The Bible on Justice

  • It is a joy for the just to do justice, But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity. Proverbs 21:15
  • Whoever says to the guilty, “You are innocent,” will be cursed by peoples and denounced by nations. But it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and rich blessing will come on them. Proverbs 24:24-25
  • He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. MIcah 6:8
  • “For I, the LORD, love justice; I hate robbery and wrongdoing. In my faithfulness I will reward my people and make an everlasting covenant with them. Isaiah 61:8-9
  • Blessed [are] they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5: 6, 10. dikaiosuné: righteousness, justice, δικαιοσύνη.
  • In general, the word "righteous" is translating a Greek "dikai" word, the Greek for "justice".
