- Someone should be Boss.
- He should not do any work himself.
- He should be clearly identified and in a known location, so people can go up to him and say, "What do you want me to do next?"
- He should send away other skilled people to solve problems, if they are able.
- Volunteers are of various and often unknown skill levels. The Boss should designate someone to teach volunteer how to do a particular task. For example, the Boss might tell Sam to show Tom how to mop and wipe interior windows, and to know how good a job to do. Sam should go through one window with Tom, doing half himself and having Tom do the other half to see if he can do it. Then Tom can do the other nine windows and return to the Boss when he is done.
- Every room should have a checkoff list of tasks with boxes. The list should also have things NOT to do, e.g. "Don't move the furniture" or "Don't drip water on the books".
