Golf

Lily and Annaliese taught us a variant on Golf that has a million arbitrary rules and so doesn't work, but which shows the potential of adding rules. I should think carefully of how to add just a few extra rules to Golf. Possibilities are:

• When card X turns up on the discard pile, the first person to get there can add an X from his own hand. If he tries to add a card, touching it, but it turns out to be Y, not X, he must take the X-card and add it to his own hand.
• When card X turns up on the discard pile, if you can touch someone else's X in their hand before they do, you can give one of your cards to them.
• When an Ace appears on the discard pile, you can look at one card in any person's hand, including your own.
• When a 2 appears on the discard pile, you can exchange one of your cards with one of someone else's.
• When a 3 appears on the discard pile, you must add the card under it in the pile to your hand.
