The sky glowed maroon.<\/p>\n
Clouds flowed like Van Gogh watches in mist.<\/p>\n
I balanced my toes on the tassels of our flying carpet<\/p>\n
and muttered into my father’s ear,<\/p>\n
listing reasons to dock on land.<\/p>\n

But the mountains swung jagged beneath us,<\/p>\n
crusted with pre-dawn celestial glow,<\/p>\n
and the air clung to my fingertips.<\/p>\n
And as the\u00a0colors brightened\u00a0by quantum leaps,<\/p>\n
I relaxed.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Then events happened<\/p>\n
and things changed brighter<\/p>\n
and more virulent still –<\/p>\n
then dark.<\/p>\n
And a quiet voice asked me a question from the black:<\/p>\n
