He&#8217;s my brother; wise for his age. You might want to read what he has to say about the incoming season.<\/p>\n<p><em>Amelia: What does summertime mean to you?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Ben: It means freedom.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Amelia: Freedom from what?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Ben: Freedom from school, and having to do homework, and waking up early&#8230; all that sort of stuff.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Amelia: I agree.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It is summer. Have the time of your lives in the sunshine, burning your skin to lobster red and cutting your bare feet on rocks at the lake. Using your freedom.<\/p>\n<p>So. . .\u00a0text your friends,<\/p>\n<p>bring caboodle,<\/p>\n<p>drive your cars and take the poodle.<\/p>\n<p>Soak in sun, and ice, and smiles,<\/p>\n<p>Burning all your\u00a0homework files.<\/p>\n<p>Summer is a chance to begin to know the beginning of people &#8211; their bare edges, and sometimes past the surface. Once you get a hold of the beginning (or the end) you can unravel the rest.
