Along the smooth path powdered with dust,
\nBeneath the bluish shadows of the evergreen.
\nWhere is the thing that I lost?
\nToppled crags and boulders grow in clusters, guard the way.
\nClamber over, run away,
\nEach tread sprays yellow moss.
\nHow many ants have marched this day?
\nSpears of light pierce the woods
\nThe stones of the cliff look like bones.
\nThe wood gives way to sprinklings of daisies
\nPinkish grasses rise up before us
\nCrowned with the light\u00a0of the setting sun,
\nPicked out individually in needlepoint.
\nThe wind roars, and we hear from far away,
\nAnd the grasses toss their seeds to the twilit trees below.
\nA swinging topography, Mountains and Clouds, large enough to wear a woods yet small enough to fit in my blinking eye.
\nI will spin to take it in!
