Sorry, this isn’t a display of my paintings. It’s a display of those dedicated artists associated with the Neo-Raphaelite movement. The purists of that class painted illustrative, ornate works that could be cold and stand-offish in nature. However, there were many who added their own style to the original Neo-Raphaelite style to produce some truly stirring works.<\/p>\n

1. Note William Adolphe Bouguereau’s knowing children and Waterhouse’s flitting Ophelia’s.<\/p>\n

2. Herbert Robert’s “The Old Temple” is a painting I’ve actually seen at the Art Institute in Chicago. It spans a full wall, giving one a real feeling of depth and otherworldliness.<\/p>\n

3. The woman in “The Mirror” really wanted to take a selfie, but cameras hadn’t been invented yet.<\/p>\n

4. I feel really sorry for the man in “Faded Laurels.”<\/p>\n
