Then click on Add-Ins. Then check off the Analysis ToolPak (you only need to do this the first time you use your copy of Excel to go through this procedure). 3. CLick on Tools. Then click on Data Analysis. Then slide down to Descriptive Statistics and click on it. 4. Find the Input box. That is for the variables on which you want statistics such as the Mean, median, Min, max and so forth. Click on the little red- shite- and-blue box. This will open up a new rectangle. Go back to the spreadsheet, and select the range of data you want for your dependent variable--- for example, B1 to C52. 6. Check off the box that says "labels in first row". 6A. Click off the box that says "summary statistics". 7. Click on "OK" 8. The results will appear in a new "worksheet" of excel. VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV Instructions on how to use Excel to run regressions (not finished yet) 1. Open up Excel. 2. Click on Tools. Then click on Add-Ins. Then check off the Analysis ToolPak (you only need to do this the first time you use your copy of Excel to go through this procedure). 3. Click on Tools. Then click on Data Analysis. Then slide down to Regression and click on it. 4. Find the Input Y-Range box. That is for your dependent variable, the one you are trying to explain. Click on the little red-shite-and-blue box. This will open up a new rectangle. Go back to the spreadsheet, and select the range of data you want for your dependent variable--- for example, B1 to B52. 5. Find the Input X-range box. This is for your independent variables, the explanatory ones. They have to be arranged in columns that are all next to each other in the spreadsheet (this is one reason why Excel is a clunky way to run regressions compared to, say, STATA). Click on the little red-white-and-blue box. This will open up a new rectangle. Go back to the spreadsheet, and select the range of data you want for your dependent variable--- for example, C1 to E52. 6. Check off the box that says "labels" 7. Click on "OK" 8. The regression results will appear in a new "worksheet" of excel. VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV
