I put a search engine on this weblog a little while back. Indiana University requires use of their search engine rather than the good freeware ones that exist, probably for some security reason. It is not hard to install, but I couldn't get it to work quite right--I can't get it to search my business school computer, for example, or to restrict itself to just the weblog and not the rest of my website. You need to save the search engine form first and then cut and paste it into your html document, rather than using VIEW SOURCE and then cutting and pasting, which the documentation says is an alternative method. I am writing this all down not for you, faithful readers, but for myself, since I know I can find this information again if I write it into the weblog itself.
Update, February 6, 2004. Now the search engine creation program does work, and restricts the search to just my weblog. I think they must have fixed a bug.
