Anders Zorn: Master of the Dramatic Selfie

Posted on April 11, 2017August 23, 2017 by amelia admin

Anders Zorn, Sweden’s most famous painter, active around the turn of the century, was popular because of his distinct ability to capture the personalities of his subjects. The wonderful thing about self portraits is that you see something of what the painter thought of himself.

Zorn seems to have taken himself quite seriously!

I like this one. It’s so fluffy!
For something everything seems extremely awkward in this one. The head and the body and the hands and the clothes all seem disparate. It’s like mixing polka dots and plaid.
#nofilter would be a blatant lie…. Look at the tempting softness of his moustache – like thistledown. His cravat is flashy. What a dandy.
