The perversity of man’s order! A paradox.
What we call opposites – dissimilar to each other in every aspect of their beings – we associate together, making them similar in dissimilarity. Those who refuse to agree, agree in their agreement to disagree. We call 1 “small “and 1000 “large”, but call 1000 “small” when 100,000,000,000 is “large” and 1 “large” when .00000001 is “small.” The average citizen of the USA would be horrified if offered a human steak, but a Brit – just kidding – a cannibal from the Congo Basin would be delighted. A few centuries ago, 50 would be considered “old.” Now, in the US, 77.5 is the average life expectancy. In Africa, a woman would go to “fat camp” to gain weight and therefore be “attractive.” Highschool girls throughout England starve themselves in order to be “attractive.” Why all the quotation marks? Because there is no standard in this; no absolute truth. All is relative. Even the facts.
“One man’s right is another man’s wrong.” Cannibalism is an instance of this, as is slavery, as is pre-marital sex. The list is endless. It leads to complete chaos. Over time, moral standards in a secular world fluctuate. Is it a surprise that man yearns for religion? – Man is constant in his constant change (another paradox). He is unreliable. There must be a something reliable, a moral constant that has not lost meaning through the ages! – This wondering leads man into a search for God.
Think on this; expand the argument. Create one for Christianity. I’m too lazy at the moment to continue it. Ach; it feels like an intro. I should write more – but I’m sure you’ve had enough for now anyway. Farewell, farewell, farewell.
“Man, It’s just some folks say, “All truth is relative, it just depends on what you believe.” You know, “hey man, ain’t no way to know for sure who God is or what’s really true.” But that means you believe your own statement; that there’s no way to know what’s really true. You’re saying that that statement is true. You’re killing yourself. If what’s true for you is true for you and what’s true for me is true for me, what if my truth says your’s is a lie? Is it still true? Come on man! ” ~ Lecrae
